Nick Jr. Rebrand 2024

Introducing the New Splat

Nickelodeon reimagined its iconic splat using a neon-toned palette centered around the recognizable orange mark, with subtle hints of the brand’s signature green slime along the edges. The challenge for Nick Jr. was to adapt Nickelodeon’s playful family spirit into a more preschool-friendly world, bringing the splat to life inside the Nick Jr. playroom environment.

The new Nick Jr. identity was inspired by the idea of a playroom for imagination, a vibrant world where kids’ creativity and curiosity come to life. The system focused on modularity and rhythm, creating a motion and color framework adaptable to any platform while maintaining Nick Jr.’s joyful personality

As Senior Brand Motion Designer, I led the creative development and design system that unified broadcast, digital, and social touchpoints into one cohesive ecosystem. Every element, from typography to transitions, was designed to play together as a unified, motion-driven brand experience.

Logo Development:

Integrated Nickelodeon’s new splat logo into Nick Jr.’s 3D logo, creating a seamless connection between the parent brand and the preschool identity.

I designed the hero logo ID frame featuring the new logo to establish the overall visual identity and collaborated with the team at Roger to bring it to life through 3D visualization.

Environment Development:

We built a kid-friendly and playful playroom environment using organic shapes inspired by Nickelodeon’s new orange splats and subtle hints of its signature green slime. To differentiate Nick Jr. from Nickelodeon, we introduced soft, tactile textures within a cohesive color palette, creating a world that feels imaginative, safe, and full of joyful energy.

I collaborated with the Roger team to ensure that every design frame felt fresh and modern while staying true to the Nick Jr. identity through consistent use of color, shape, and mood.

Display type formatting was standardized and kitted into both 2D and 3D applications to allow for seamless transition between styled types. The long-game here is for Nickelodeon and future creative partners to be able to continue to add stylized alphabets that can plug into the modular system and add new exciting brand styles to the visual identity.

Motion System

The motion system was inspired by the idea of new nostalgia. We wanted to take the character of traditional cel animation, and mash it up with 3D in a graphic space. This was paired with simple and irreverent type and other graphic animations, keeping messaging bold and simple.

Holiday Graphic Refresh

To celebrate the season, the Nick Jr. team gave the rebrand a festive makeover. Inspired by the warmth of winter, we incorporated cozy sweater patterns, stitching details, and fluffy snowflakes into the graphics. Holiday ornaments and twinkling lights enhanced the atmosphere, creating a vibrant and inviting holiday world that feels both fresh and cheerful. The theme "Sweater Weather" guided the visual style, blending knitted textures with playful holiday icons to evoke a warm, resonant vibe.

My role encompassed the entire process, from initial design to final animation, including concept pitching, graphic package design, and leading and directing the design team.
